What are the benefits of being in a sorority?
Some of the benefits include long-lasting friendships, leadership opportunities, helping out the community, and an incredible college experience, just to name a few. With Alpha Sigma Tau, sisters stand by each other, and allow for personal and professional growth. Alpha Sigma Tau can also help improve networking connections, with our large body of fellow Greek's and alumnae across the nation.
Does your sorority haze?
Alpha Sigma Tau does not haze. We believe in making a true bond of sisterhood, with positive and enjoyable experiences. Alpha Sigma Tau develops women who enrich the lives of others and promotes an environment of shared understanding and respect for values, expectations and goals; hazing has no place in Alpha Sigma Tau.

How will joining a sorority affect my academics/What is the GPA requirement?
Alpha Sigma Tau was founded on a principle of scholarship; therefore, academics is important to us. We require all of our members to have a cumulative GPA above a 2.5 to remain on good standing within the chapter. Alpha Sigma Tau encourages studying with other members, and our sisters can often be found studying on campus together. For more information on scholarship and academics, visit our scholarship page

What is the time commitment?
Alpha Sigma Tau is run entirely by its chapter members. This means that every event whether it be recruitment or philanthropy is planned by the sisters. In order for Alpha Sigma Tau to achieve its aims and purposes it is critical that every member is actively engaged. This includes attending recruitment events to expose women to the Alpha Sigma Tau, getting to know our new sisters by attending new member events, and ritual ceremonies that enhance our dedication to Alpha Sigma Tau. These events usually add up to about 9 to 11 events through-out the semester (typically 1-2 hours). Because we are all busy college students we come together once a week for a sisters-only meeting, which is held on Sundays at 7pm in the Oakland Center. Lastly, because Alpha Sigma Tau members believe in being active in one's community, all members participate in 4 hours of community service per semester, whether that be at a philanthropy event with her sisters, or on her own. In addition to these events, there are also events that sisters have the option to attend, such as socials with other Greek organizations, sisterhoods, and formals. Alpha Sigma Tau values academics, and therefore discourages our members missing class to attend a sorority function.
